Drive-In pallet racking systems are best suited for high density storage for:
- Last In – First Out (LIFO)
- First In – First Out (FIFO)
By storing pallets deep and stacked above each other provide maxium pallet storage in a confined space.
In Drive-In racking system entry to the storage area is limited to one side entry only and thus the LIFO system applies.
The Last in First Out method works best for products that have no date or time limitation to their quality, as the product stored in front is taken out first and often the storage material stacked at the inner point of the storage area is reached last.
Alternatively a drive through racking system allows the transportation vehicle to enter from both the sides and thus a FIFO method or First In First Out method can be practiced. This method is ideal for products where time has its effects on a product. Drive-In racking is ideal for maximising available cubic space along with offering the option of storing more pallets in a single cubic metre space compared to any other racking system. It is also efficient in eliminating aisles between storage racking and is equally ideal for cold storage applications.
